Councillor Claire Holland, Lambeth’s Cabinet member for the Environment and Clean Air will be our guest speaker at our meeting at 7.30pm on Wednesday 15 January.
Since starting her cabinet role, Cllr Holland has overseen a change of gear in the council’s approach to walking and cycling in the area. Last year the council submitted a successful bid for Liveable Neighbourhood funding for Brixton and then in November approved a new transport strategy with an implementation plan.
At our first event of 2020 Cllr Holland will update us on plans for this year, when we should start to see action on the plans and policies of last year.
In November we welcomed the transport strategy and implementation plan but we told councillors:
Start now. We must see change next year. We’d ask you all to ask yourselves what you will do in the next year to make them a reality.
Join us at 7.30pm on Wednesday 15 January. We meet at Morley College’s Stockwell Centre, 1 Studley Rd, London SW4 6RA. This is just behind Stockwell tube station and good bike parking is available. In February we return to our usual pattern of meeting on the third Thursday of the month.
