Bike buddies supporting new and returning cyclists

Are you a confident cyclist willing to help others experience the joy and freedom of cycling? Or a new or returning cyclist feeling nervous about cycling in London?

We are starting a new free “bike buddies” scheme in Lambeth, to support more people to take to two (or three) wheels.

A Lambeth bike buddies group meeting in the Railton Road low traffic neighbourhood.

Lambeth Bike Buddies puts new riders in touch with experienced riders nearby, so that they can meet up and ride together, and exchange a few tips.

You organise the ride with your new “buddies”, so it’s up to you where and when to meet and how long to ride for. All groups are at least three riders.

Register now whether you are new on a bike or experienced. If you have any questions email us.

Bike Buddies is not a replacement for basic skills or cycle training. Lambeth Council does provide free cycle training which should start again soon. New riders should be able to signal and look back, with the journey made on quiet routes, more experienced returning riders may be guided on busier roads which may be more direct.

An experienced buddy cyclist would ride at Bikeability level 3.
