News from our March meeting

Last month, we met in Stockwell to discuss local progress on safer cycling and to elect a new committee to coordinate Lambeth Cyclists.

Local progress?

We used our Climate Safe Streets campaign asks to focus the conversation.

We had concerns at the lack of recent progress from both Lambeth Council and TfL.

We had been pleased to see the recent engagement periods on both Brixton Hill and Streatham Wells low traffic neighbourhoods but both were already overdue and there was no confidence in when the trials would start. There has since been an update on the Brixton Hill area but the delivery date is still vague.

On main roads, there is still no sign of progress from TfL on the cycle track along the A23 Streatham Hill. While overdue, TfL recommitted to this last year.

AGM Elections

We elected a new volunteer committee to coordinate Lambeth Cyclists

  • Charlie Ullman, Chair/Co-ordinator
  • Colin Penning, Secretary
  • Chris James, Treasurer

Plus other committee members without portfolios. Together with members active on our projects, we will help members campaign for safer, healthier streets.

Join us at our next meeting

Come along on Thursday 18 May, we will meet from 7pm in Stockwell.

Join us at The Stockwell Centre, 1 Studley Road, SW4 6RA. This is just behind Stockwell tube and has on site cycle parking. We aim to enable people to join online too.
