Loughborough Road Healthy Route

More good news from Lambeth as engagement begins for a significant upgrade to the current provision for cycling on Loughborough Road. The image below is typical and shows wand protected cycle lanes on both sides of the road, running on the inside of car parking where it remains, and with bus stop bypasses to remove conflict with buses.

Kerb separated tracks would be better but also much more expensive. We are keen to see how this integrates with the rest of the growing healthy routes network and especially how the junctions at both ends are to be made safe for cycling. One concern is that Fiveways Road is shown in the plans as being closed to all users – we’d like to see this remain permeable for cycling.
