Safer everyday cycling is already being appreciated on Norwood Road alongside Brockwell Park. A new a wider wand-protected northbound lane now links Brockwell Park Gardens to Rosendale Road.
However, the slightly wider advisory lane southbound is completely inadequate on a road with over 14,000 vehicles per day. DfT, TfL and Lambeth’s own healthy route quality criteria all say much more protection is needed here.
This road needs more work to be called a Healthy Route, which is how it is being billed. But, we do think this is the right way to bring these schemes forward. Get the easy stuff in quickly so that people can benefit and then consult/do more work on the harder parts of the route.
