June 2025 Meeting Roundup: Healthy Neighbourhoods, Rosendale Road, and More

Thanks to everyone who joined us this month for a lively and productive local meeting! It was fantastic to connect, share insights, and discuss the latest developments shaping cycling in our area.

Meeting Highlights

We covered a lot of ground, including:

  • Healthy Neighbourhoods Progress: We delved into several Healthy Neighbourhoods that have undergone consultations and are hopefully moving towards trial phases soon. This includes Kennington Triangle – the council’s engaging on this now, Walnut Tree Walk, Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, Wyvil, and the Stockwell Gardens & Slade Gardens LTNs. We’re anticipating trials for five of these areas later this year, starting with Stockwell Gardens and concluding with Kennington Triangle.
  • Rosendale Road Improvements: We also discussed the ongoing development of the Rosendale Road cycle track extension, a joint effort between TfL and the council to improve the junction with the South Circular.
  • Oval Cricket Ground Issues: A discussion point was the challenges around the Oval Cricket Ground, particularly on match days, and the impact of lots of Lime Bikes parked on pavements.
Herne Hill Railway Bridge & Waterloo Green Fair: Plans are underway to form a “coalition of the willing” to improve motor traffic issues around the Herne Hill railway bridge, and we’re looking for volunteers to help at the Waterloo Green Fair on 13 September.

It was a brilliant opportunity to get up-to-speed on these local initiatives and for members to share their perspectives.

Don’t Miss the AGM: Shape the Future!

We also spoke about our next meeting. Building on these important discussions, our Annual General Meeting is just around the corner on Thursday 17 July at 7pm, at the Morley Stockwell Centre.

This is your chance to directly influence the future direction of our organisation and the cycling landscape in our community. We’re especially keen to hear from anyone interested in stepping up to join our volunteer committee. No prior experience is needed – just a passion for cycling and a willingness to get involved!

Joining the committee means you’ll be instrumental in:

  • Creating safer cycling routes across Lambeth.
  • Increasing awareness of cyclists’ needs.
  • Building a stronger, more connected local cycling community.

Even if you’re unsure about a specific role, please do come along to learn more and chat with current committee members. Your involvement, however big or small, makes a difference.

We look forward to seeing you there!
