What questions do you want to ask your next London Assembly Member

Lambeth and Southwark Cyclists are jointly organising a hustings meetings on Tuesday 24 April 2012 at the Waterloo Action Centre, SE1 (see event details)

At the event we will be asking all the candidates standing in the Lambeth and Southwark constituency for their views on cycling, walking, TfL and other sustainable transport issues in the two boroughs.

In the past we have found it useful to send the candidates a list of the likely questions so that they have time to think about the issues and if appropriate prepare responses rather than just give bland answers.

So what questions do you want to put to the candidates?

Suggestions we have received so far include:

Do you favour extending the cycle hire scheme out to South London? If so where? Brixton, Peckham, Dulwich, Crystal Palace?
How can we get more ‘normal’, ie not lycra-clad, people on bikes?
Have the cycle superhighways made it “quicker, safer and easier for cyclists to commute to work” as Boris claimed?
Would you be happy for children to use the cycle superhighways alone?
Do you favour segregated cycle lanes?
How can junctions such as Stockwell, Oval or Clapham South be improved?
How do we safeguard cycling facilities funding in times of spending cuts?
Has a cycling mayor been good for London cyclists?
Do you favour a 20mph speed limit for roads such as Brixton Road, Camberwell New Road, Peckham High St?
How do we reconcile the dual roles of roads such as Brixton Road, Camberwell Church Street as local town centres and as strategic London routes?
When will we see decisive cycle-friendly action of Vauxhall Cross and Elephant and Castle?
Is the tram plan dead in the water?

Do you have anything else to add? If you do please email them to lseevans@yahoo.co.uk or tweet to @LambethCyclists before Tuesday 17 April 2012.

The Lambeth and Southwark Cyclists sustainable transport hustings event will be held on Tuesday 24 April 2012 at 7:15pm for 7:30 start – everyone is welcome
